In her new single GHOST CAT, multimedia shapeshifter Ann Magnuson conjures up the ghostly creatures that haunt her native West Virginia.

Returning once again to her Appalachian roots and backed up by members of the WV band The Carpenter Ants and The Mountain Stage house band (the long-running NPR show based in Ann’s hometown of Charleston, WV,) the track features WV-born harmonica legend Charlie McCoy who, like Magnuson, is a member of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.

GHOST CAT is a spooky, upbeat song about searching for the supernatural among the hkills and hollers of Appalachia. Engineered and mixed by renowned engineer, producer and musician Don Dixon, the song combines deep American folk traditions with surreal psychedelia reminiscent of Magnuson’s indie-cult band Bongwater.

GHOST CAT is the musical centerpiece of the artistic oeuvre Magnuson calls “SurRURALism” that takes the listener into a trippy sonic dreamworld you can clog dance to!
